After all morning trying to get onto The Pirate Bay and getting a 404 each time, I decided to look into it. Apparently TPB’s internet service provider, Black Internet, cut its connection to avoid being fined by the Stockholm district court.
“The decision was made by the district court on Friday, but reached us today and we have decided to comply. … We are a small operator and we haven’t got the financial resources to pursue such a matter,” said Victor Möller, CEO at Black Internet, in an interview with Computer Sweden.
If the ISP refused, is would have been a 7o thousand dollar fine. What this mean for The Pirate Bay and its users? I don’t have a friggin clue, I hope this is another capitalist hiccup that fails as usual. Meanwhile, Global Gaming Factory X is planning to acquire The Pirate Bay. Its shareholders will decide at a meeting Thursday whether the deal should go through. As long as the fate of TPB is up in the air, I’m not even sure the deal will go through.
Peter Sunde’s Twitter: The Pirate Bay will now file charges against Sweden for violation for Human Rights. More info later. (The bias-judge is himself biased..
Personally this happens to be devastating information to me, as I am an whole hearted user of TBP. Good Luck Guys.
